To be generous, we’ll start off with a classic. Trick r’ Treat (2007) takes its viewers through five interwoven stories one Halloween night to show that this holiday in suburbia is not at all what it seems. Each story leads seamlessly into the next one and, by the end, you won’t be opening the door for trick-or-treaters without at least a little bit of anxiety. Children on a candy high, or demons? Although, honestly, is there that big of a difference?

Here we are, our final piece de resistance for the list: Hell! No, seriously, we’re following these people into Hell, so strap in! Southbound (2015) details the stories of five sets of people, all with one thing in common: where they’ll arrive by the end of the flick. Each story shows viewers, in bits and pieces, why these people are headed down south. Plus, if you feel like you haven’t gotten your fill of gore yet, “The Accident” will certainly take care of that!
